Just tie a polomar and the a short tag in case it slips a littl on the first hook set.

I use the Palomar knot. If you are worried about it slipping with braid do this little trick. After you tie the knot tie an over hand knot in the tag end of the line and then clip off the rest.
Line size depends on what you are flippng and they type of cover you are flipping. Probably the most popular sizes for flipping would be 50 or 65 pound test. I use 65 when flipping a heavy jig or tx. rig punching grass.
