Just received my first copy of the N.A.C.A. magazine and was curious about something. Seems as though crappie only exist in Alabama, Tennessee, Louisiana, Kentucky, Arkansas & Mississippi. At least, you'd think so by looking at this rag. Any ideas as to why some of the better crappie holes in the DFW area aren't mentioned or advertised in the magazine. Addiaiotnally, over the past couple of year's they've had some big-time tournaments on Lewisville & Hubbard, but none are scheduled for this year, as far as I know. Just curious!!

It's all true. What out-of-state people don't know won't hurt them. Let sleeping dogs lie. Ignorance is bliss. Want me to keep going on?

How many of you guys come out and fish these local tournies? That is why we can't get more in TX. No turnout. If you want to represent TX Crappie fishing, come to Ray Roberts next month and fish the ACA tournament. We have more Crappie fisherman and less turnout than just about any state. That is why we get left out.

I'm agreeing with crappieslayer. 7 to 5 over 5 is enough work for a week. Why go out on the weekend and work some more when you can relax and have a great time. Catch or not, the worst day of fishing is better than the best day at work..... And tournys are just some more work.

Redfin, that was quite prolific if I do say so myself.

One need not let the souls of other states confront our Texas sovereignity.

Jerry,

I'm with you 100%. I will try to fish more TFF crappie tournaments (I've already entered for March on Lavon). I' not really interested in fishing national events, just ones where $20 will give you a chance to meet new TFF'rs, learn a particular lake, and put a feed bag on.

Bass tournaments out the ying-yang have not helped get me interested in bass fishing. If anything, the influx of bass tournaments (high dollar tournaments and not club tournaments) here in Texas has turned me to fishing for other species. I don't particularly care to have the same thing happen to crappie fishing and striper fishing.

Leaving it at the club level is enough saturation for me.

Tournaments are not for everyone. I like to test my skills against the best of the best. Would Bass fishing be as big if not for tournaments? Crappie fishing will never be as big as Bass fishing even though we have more fisherman pursuing Crappie. Tournaments have made me a better fisherman and gives me the confidence I need to teach other fisherman to become better.

I have been very impressed w/ my trips to Fork crappie fishing as the numbers come MUCH easier than on Kentucky Lake. I can probably catch 3:1 at Fork over KY lake and I know KY Lake pretty well as I have fished it all of my life and have to guess where to fish on FORK. On the other hand, the average fish I have caught and seen caught on FORK don't come close to the average crappie on KY Lake. KY lake grows them BIG. Be happy that Texas doesn't get the publicity KY lake and some others get as it really stinks when you can walk from boat to boat in areas that you used to have to yourself. Your Texas lakes are very nice.

I ain't never fished no crappie tournament. Redfin, you got some info on those things? The wife and I usually fish for LMB, but would like to meet more TFF members. Thanks ahead of time, for any info. Do ya'll have mailers or something like that?
