Catfish Ha, I've been trying to get Ernest to set up a booth at CC on the weekends to sell the Green Crappie he catches to those guys in the $40,000.00 boats. They seem to get so excited about those trash fish, they even have contests and stuff.

Fisherman stretching the truth...telling tale tales about the fish they caught..say it ain't so!! Well, in Mr. Paty's case, and his friend Guy Skinner, they don't have anything to prove, even though it cuts like a knife to be called a liar. Integrity is a must in what they do, there very exsistence as pro anglers and guides depends on it. Now in my case...lol I wish I knew how that photo shop worked, I would show you folks the Great White Shark I caught in Rocky Creek Barge the other day...Lol Thats my first, and last swip at the fellow that had his doubts about them catching big cats on light tackle..No hard feelings meant at you partner, as hard as it would be for most of us, these men know how to catch almost anything on those riggs.

I guess the proof is in the pictures. Not that any of us regulars needed to see them. Ernest and Guy could tell me they caught them on the center divider of LBJ and I'd only ask which side they were fishing on. Careful though, Ernest. You would not want anybody to be accusing you of snagging fish.

Well, I personally know that this was not a dream Ernest. I had a similiar experience Saturday while doing a little crappie and sandbass fishing. I had an extra rod sitting out so I decided to slip cork a minnow. I was fishing in an area surrounded by a lot of cattails. I figured the fish should have been holding close to the cattails so I cast my minnow about 4 ft from them. I put my rod in a rod holder as well because I had been catching a few big hybrid and I knew that they were notorious for stealing rods. I loosened my drag to allow the fish to run just in a case I couldn't get to my pole right away. About 15 mins later I looked up and my cork was gone. I noticed that my pole was slowly starting to bend and I heard my drag slowly stripping. I went and set the hook expecting to feel a light to a medium tug on the other end but what I felt was a sudden surge of power that I had never felt before. This "monster's" initial run almost stripped all the line off of my reel. I mean I couldn't stop him. He had a full head of steam and seemed very anxious to get somewhere far away from me. With about 10-15 yards of line left I felt the beast lighten up and turn back towards me. To make a long story as short as possible, I fought this fish for roughly 45 mins before I even saw my cork again. But in seeing my cork I knew that I was close to seeing what I had engulfed my poor little minnow. About 2-3 mins after seeing my cork, I felt this monster, this huge mass, coming to the surface. I mean this rascal was nothing but dead weight. I told a fishing buddy of mine that he had one shot with the net. With a decent sized net in hand and a spotlight in the water we soon saw "it". And "it" just so happened to be one of the largest catfish I've ever seen in person. I am sure this brute was in excess of 60#'s. Well, my buddy tried to net this monster but to no avail. He was simply toooo big to fit in the net. With this fish feeling his freedom slipping away, he made one last surge straight to the bottom of the creek and just laid there. Unfortunately this is how the story ended. My 6 1/2 ft Wally Marshall rod, my Wally Marshall spinning reel and my Wally Marshall 6# hi vis line, as valiant as it was, was simply too light to lift this massive fish from the creeks bottom. I tried to agitate the fish into moving but I am sure that he was too whipped to do much of anything. I eventually broke my line off. As I made my final pull, bubbles began to come to the surface which let me know that he was still there. I hate that I did not get to land the fish. I would have loved to take pictures to show you guys and Wally Marshall the size of that fish but I guess I just have to add this one to my "the one that got away" list. I guess I said all that to say, Ernest I believe you.

Well eye used my HP 3 in 1 and photoshop to extract the picture from this site and then I used my contacts at NASA to transpond the picture into a weighable product and I deduced that even the picture of the not caught fish weighed 27.90 lbs on my machine and then eye had another beer and turned it off.

Sir Hippocrappiemus... Now, that's truly The One That Got Away story.
Hello to ya, haven't seen a post from you in a while. Thought you were catchin' Crappie. Guess you hooked into the same type of "funny lookin" Crappie that Ernest and Guy are known to catch.
Where were these cattails you were fishin' close to?
