I went to Jones Crossing today and walked about a mile towards the lake. The water is extremely low, almost disconnected in parts. Doesn't bode well for the spring without some heavy and consistent rains.

Does anyone know if you still have to get a gate code to get to the spillway? I thought about going one morning outside of the corps office hours and was wondering if you can get down there.

Sorry I am just now getting back to you guys. We were at the spillway on Saturday 1/02/10 and the fishing was horrible. I was hoping that we were going to tear them up but we sure didn't. We got there about 7:30 or 8 and fished till about noon. My dad and I did not even catch one fish. There was another guy fishing along side us and he caught 3 dinks. That was it. I didn't bother checking Jones Crossing because I could tell by the lake level that there wouldn't be enough water.

Yes you have to have a gate code or buy a yearly pass and get a gate card.
