Thursday afternoon took a buddy of mine, Mr. Gary Sims alias Fishinman on the forum, we fished for 3 hours on RR and ended the day with 33 keepers. We weighed 5 of the best and they weighed 9.28 lbs. Fishing standing timber, 16' of water or less used 1/16 oz jig head, white & chartreuse tube jig. Today we went to Lewisville, ended up the day with 29 good fish. Fished standing timber in 5 - 11' of water. Catching most of the fish 3-4' deep. We used 1/16 oz jig head, black & chartreuse and black & pink tube jig. It is amazing you can catch fish on that lake in 5' of water in August. Most people wouldn't think of fishing that shallow this time of the year. It was good seeing Sheldon & Matthew out today. I really like your boat Sheldon it sets good and looks good on the water. Me and Jerry are going to RR in the morning, we will be fishing shallow again.

Thanks for the compliments about the boat Paul. The Lund w/Honda combo has been a really great boat. Enjoyed seeing you and Jerry as well. Pleasure to meet you Gary (Fishinman). Looking forward to fishing with you Paul on a RR trip sometime in the future when our schedules match up.

Who would have thought one would be catching crappie at those depths in August and with a surface temp in the 87 to 88 degree range.

Maybe gonna go for some recon and a little fishing tomorrow late afternoon and evening, or in the morning if I'm up to the task.

Man, would love to be able to go fishing as much as you guys. Thanks for the info. I know CrappieMaster and I last Friday did fairly well on 1/8-1/4 oz tube jigs filled with crappie nibbles.

Seems the best color of the day for tubes was "Texas" (yep, red/white/blue), or as some call it on Weatherford, "Texaco", and pink/blue tail with blue flake in it.

Ya just never know!

I'd never know about different colors anymore. I have only used black/chart and white/chart since April.
Right now on Lewisville up shallow you can fish any color you want but unless your fishing it "right" you'll get skunked.
I tried Crappie nibbles yesterday on RR and it didn't change the bite. I did catch more Perch though. Minnows and Crappie nibbles are a waste of money on RR right now. We probably caught 75-100 Crappie on plain jigs. Location and presentation are the keys wink That and a white/chart jig

Jerry,

Well, on the 'Vine, it helped the day CM and I went. I wasn't doing much at all until I injected some nibbles in the tube, then the bites increased bigtime.

Never tried it on RR yet, but think on RR with so many crappie, you can fish with about anything and catch em', with like you say, the right spot, depth, and presentation.

Like I said, you never know. Just go with whatever type of set up/bait/color that feels good to ya is my motto. I am in the market with either Matthew or Skip to get some white/ chartreuse,chartreuse/sky blue, and pink/sky blue.
