The Coleto Bassmasters will have their annual invitational tournament on March 6th, 2010. The lake is really good that time of year, with pre-spawn, spawning, and post-spawn fish to be had. It draws a decent crowd with good payouts and quite a few door prizes after the weigh-in.

If you are not familiar with Coleto, it is a 3000 acre power plant lake that is fed by two main creeks. There is standing timber, hydrilla, reeds, lillies, etc. It is between Victoria and Goliad, off of Hwy 59.

After the flyer gets made, I will try to figure out how to post it.

Don't forget to mark the date. The fishing will be great this time of year.

Team or Individual?

I have fished this for years and it has always been a team deal but you can also fish by yourself. I think The entry fee has been around $70.00 - $100.00 in the past. and it is a 1 day tourney. they have a cash pay out but don't remember how many places. they get a bunch of donated prizes and once the cash is gone the remaining places get to pick a prize off the table in order of finish. They have also paid 2 places for big bass. It is a good time and they feed you "nothing fancy" also. A warning for ya it is open to everyone.

LOL no but there will be some guy's there that could beat him on that lake. I have seen it take well over 20 lbs to win this one several times over the years.

Don't know about that!!! I was just jacking around with the guy's with the warning thing. This is a very well run tourney with a polygraph test for top finishes. It is a fun time and there are some really good local stixs that will be fishing for bragging rights.

The tournament is coming up. If any of you need me to e-mail the entry form to you, shoot me an e-mail at rboyd@victoriatx.org. You can pre-register via mail, register the evening before the event, or register the morning of the event. Good fishing.

One more week until the event. I was told Academy will be there handing out stuff, and there will be plenty of door prizes. Registration will begin Friday evening at the park entrance. It will begin again shortly after 4AM on tournament morning. Fishing will begin at 6:30 AM.

I went out on the lake yesterday. The lake is clearing up and will be in great shape for the tournament. Water temps were 55-61, and the spawn has not started. I was suprised at the amount of grass in the upper lake.

If you are going to attend and need to find a hotel, e-mail me at the address in my previous post. Or you can call me at 361-485-3717. My filter prevents some e-mails from getting through.

Hope to see some of you there.
