Has anyone heard anything about missing boaters on Falcon? We have heard 4 confirmed boats that sank during 12' swells with 40mph winds. We heard there were an additional 29 missing...

I spoke with a boater around 7 pm and he said they were still pulling guys in that had to beach their boats. He also said some of the anglers beached their boats on the Mexican side and Texas Parks and Wildlife, Border patrol, and any other US law enforcement could not cross the boder to assist them in getting back to the US side. He also said that the Border Patrol was utilizing a helicopter for some of the boaters in trouble. I heard the lead boater sheared a console and all elctronics along with his trolling motor ripped off the bow. Several boats with motors torn from transoms. I looks like the full feild they had today won't be so full tomorrow. Sounds like it got down right ugly.

I heard there were waves coming over the dam.

A buddy of mine down there said he knew it was going to be rough and it would be hard to stay on his best group of fish out in the middle of the lake. I haven't been able to get a hold of him because his cell phone has been giving him fits I but saw he weighed in so he's alright. With only 12lbs I know he's just sick because of the fish he was on in practice. I hope everyone makes it in safe and sound.

OMG I hope there were no deaths. Why would tourny directors let them go in that? That just seems crazy!

Its that dangerous mixture of testosterone and water. Very deadly combination. Hope everyone made it in safely. Hard to call an event of that level when the winds are not present at start time. Perhaps a call to trailer would have been best. Easy to arm chair quarterback these events, the pressure on the TD is huge and whatever the decision you make it is a darn if you do or darn if you don't. Prayers for the safety of all involved in this event and wisdom for the TD in making the best decision for all.

I love tournament fishing as much as the next guy - but 40mph winds? - that's gale force (not just small craft warnings), according to the US Coast Guard warning systems (2 red pennants) and the "T" should not have launched - money be dammed. I hope all returned uninjured. And if the above rumors ARE true - Border Patrol agents, not to mention a helicopter used to rescue the stranded, I'd rather those guys paid attention to their REAL job - sheesh.

Some bass anglers ain't the sharpest tools in the shed. If the tournament director does not cancel there will be a percentage that would launch in a tornado.
Stress less, relax more. Go fishing.

BASS would have canceled the day without a doubt but BASS cancels for almost any kind of inclement weather anymore. I have never supported canceling a tournament day and on a local level got pissed when the TDs allowed trailering for bad weather. I may have changed my opinion if I had been there today.
I certainly hope everyone is accounted for and that no one is seriously hurt.
Those of you down there - please keep us informed.

Neal it sounds like you've never spent a night on the bank in 30 degree weather.
