Depends on the model, if it's not a 900 or Z boat, it will have wood in it.

For 2010 all Nitro boats will be figged at the factory, which should take care of any of the inconsistancies of dealer rigging. Its a good step in the right direction.

I would never talk to a sales guy about the quality of one boat versus another. You need to be talking to the people that work on them. One of the first things that I would check when buying aboat is the use or non-use of sealant on the motor mounting bolts. If it is done right the threads will also be sealed. I even use sealant on every hole in by boat. Even on the top of the cap.

No more than you would take a "Factory Rigged Ranger" back to the factory if you have a problem. What it will do is insure that every boat is rigged the same way. At the factory the same group of people will rig every Z-9, Z-8, X-5 etc that goes out the door, so if a 200hp engine on a Z-7 needs to be hung on the second hole down to get the proper performance, then you are assured that ALL Z-7s with 200hp engines will be hung on the second hole down, as opposed to having boats individually rigged at dealerships where things like where and how to run wires and cables are left up to hundreds of peoples interpretation of what is the "best" way to do it. Im sure that there are some Tracker Dealers who do a poor job of rigging boats, just like there are Ranger, Champion, Stratos and many other brands who have dealers with the same problem. To conclude that Tracker Dealers in general dont know how to rig and setup a boat is asinine.

I agree that there is some dealers who do a poor job of rigging, but not all, some of us take our time to make sure hoses and cables and fuel lines are run correctly and look good.Set up on Tracker boats or Nitro boats are in a rigging book supplied by Nitro to all dealers,so dealers rig the same as the factory for basic set up,motor height, prop, and so on.But to dial one in it is left to the dealer, jackplate height, prop selection, motor height.

Now I will absolutely take exception to the previous two comments.

I was there, and here's the absolute scoop....

Yep they have a "book" that Richard Jennings put together for proper props, motor heights, etc. The problem is, most of the dealers think this is "gospel" and don't use common sense or logic when they set one up. "book is the book, must be right"

Richard is a good guy, and knows his stuff, but to think *ONE* guy can test EVERY motor option on every tracker/nitro hull is insane, you can't do it. Richard gives his opinion on what "should" be correct. They also bound themselves up by ONLY installing mercury props, even though something else would be a far superior choice.

I've been to class, know all the mentalities of the "tracker way" and they want you to:
Buy something on the floor with the motor it's rigged with.
Sign the paperwork, hook up your rig and go away.
Don't ask to water test.
Don't question how something was rigged.
Don't bring it back if it doesn't do what was told to you.

I left because of that mentality, even though 4 of the 5 boats that left the dealership were mine. I "wasted" too much time:
Inspecting boats to be delivered, ragging on riggers on how to properly install options.
Insisting on taking a customer to the water to train and find any issues.
Staying at night to rig boats myself.

If you'd like to see the "training" book, and how to do it their way, I'd be more than happy to share it.

The hulls are fine, especially those built since '02 when Lance took over, those aren't the issues customers have, it's the things that are put on afterwords, the setups and the way they are treated if they have problems that make you careful to jump on that bargain price.

With unsavory sales policies, low quality products and poor customer service its a miracle that they are the number one boat manufacturer with the highest number of sales world wide. LOL
(and no, sales numbers are not a sign of quality or customer service, but they are a direct reflection preference).

Since the merger of BPS and Tracker Marine last year the way our dealers provide service to customers has been looked at and revised in many ways. With a dealer network of this size effecting change is not an overnight process, but steps are being taken daily to improve problem areas within our dealer network as it applies to customer service before and after the sale. Things have changed alot in the last year, and they are heading in the right direction.

The rigging book is printed as a guide that dealers use as basic rigging specs, not as gospel as you say,I have changed motor heights many times to dial one in on a certain boat, also have changed out props to get better performace.I dont need to see it because I have one.Because a boat is rigged at the factory will not cure all rigging problems,to say it will or take out the dealer inconsistances in my opinion is asinine, not all boats are rigged perfect,no matter what brand.I only commented about what was said about factory rigging taking out dealer inconsistancies.Know its dealer installed items, customer service,so I guess I dont know were this is going,so I guess I will just worry about what we do here and let yall sway people into buying something else.To the people who like Tracker and Nitro, they build a good product, and the prices have been dropped to help stimulate the market and get more people in to boating and keep the factory open and building boats,I THINK THAT IS A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

I have a new model Nitro X-5 and I have no complaints whats so ever. Customer service at BPS was great. I also have plenty of friends that have Nitro boats that are very satisfied. I'd definately buy a bigger Nitro boat in the future.

Can't blame the motor issues on the boat..

Though your correct about the motor BF , I have purchased 5 boats from BPS, the sale is always great, service is usually at par, or better than other places, replacemnt parts are always in stock, or down the road, it's just the Nitro boats resale value is terrible.
I bet that the sheer volume of Nitro boats sold is at the heart of the resale issue, but they do have a bad rap from the past due to quality, and seem to still have some of those issues.
