Greetings to all and Happy New Year from River Run Guide Service.

I must say, this is hands down my favortie time of year on the Middle/Upper Brazos River, here in North Central Texas.

Traditionally, we catch some of the largest bass of the year during the the winter months. From what I've been seeing and catching on the Brazos recently, there will be more personal best catches on the way for River Run Guide Service Customers in the upcoming weeks.

Right now, the really good news is that were CPRing some big fish on top that we are fooling into stalking and destroying our 6-8" plugs and bottle style swimmers.

My clients and I are having some memorable encounters with big river fish, as they often attack baits repeatedly on the way back to the kayak.

More than a few river anglers have been left wide eyed and jittery after a big largemouth or striper blows a hole in the river attempting to run down a surface bait just a stones throw away from the kayak.

For the enterprising angler who prevails when the opportunity presents itself, the rewards can be spectacular...

Congratulations to Vince on his Personal Best largemouth that came in just under 24". woot

For this bite, the colder the better!

Stay tuned for more exiting kayak fishing action as River Run Guide Service goes rod to fin with hard pulling, giant freshwater redfish on a local Texas impoundment. fish

Until next time, folks... smile

No, no bikes or cars and my kids are grown and out of the house, but not off the payroll.

So your fishing Fairfield? I've always wanted to go catch some reds down there. And I heard that the power plant keeps that lake warm.

I have heard lots of negative things about people not catching any of the reds though. And also something about the fish dying in that lake for some reason. But who knows its all rumors.

Thanks, Derek.

I had a guest with me. However, it was more of a R&D trip, therefore I was not taking a fee.

I have had some folks contact me privately to express interest
booking one of these kayak redfish trips.

If enough folks are interested, we will see...

I know they are out there. But a lot of people dont know how to catch them. You obviously do not have a problem with that. Is it true that the water stays pretty warm in that lake?

I've seen it vary depending on where you are on the lake.

60-80 degree water was the temperature range I encountered.

Nice red, Shane. Looks like a successful R&D trip.

Hey, I looked up the lake on Google Earth, and there is something really big North West of the lake--a big quarry or maybe a minning operation? Anyone know what it is?
