Caught my first limit of the year Fished a private marina near Perdernales on Sat noon-4pm during pre-frontal conditions and caught 14 fish. Interestingly most of the fish were caught with black and chart 1/32oz hand tied jigs in 6-8ft over 42ft. Winds 10-12 and pressure 29.98 falling. I think I saw Ranger R fishing in the rain and fog on Saturday afternoon. (were you wearing a yellow rainsuit in a white boat?) Fished again yesterday 11-3pm and limited out. Again most of the fish were caught in 6-8ft over 42ft. Some were way deep at almost 38ft. Winds 10-20 and pressure 29.96 falling. Caught equal numbers of black, white and "paty" linebackers. 50/50 males and females. Females had almost ready eggs sacs. Males had immature milt. I can't wait to start casting to shallows with bobbers! I am now convinced now that falling pressure is a good determinant in fishing success. I suspect stable weather patterns produce pressure gradients in the afternoon due to heating. Last years success seem to indicate consistently good fishing in the afternoon during such stable conditions. I suspect early spring frontal passages mean you have to pick days that have lower pressures or falling pressures to have a better chance. Am I right? Just so that credit is given where it's due, I gleaned all this here on TFF and formulated my own deductions. You guys are great!

Cudakilla, No, that was not me. However, I was out on Lake Travis, fishing out of a Teal/Gray Ranger bass boat I own. I had two other guys with me. We trolled the Pedenales River, starting at 3PM....no luck, so we went and fished docks on the main Colorado River (Lake Travis).
I have fished the last four days on Travis. Catching crappie and whites. I have never fished River Ranch, but I have heard good reports from there. I may have to try one day. Still looking for a limit of keeper crappie for this year. Have caught some nice whites on Tuesday, to 16inches.
Keep up the great reports!

Ranger, There's a rather large dock somewhere across from the ranch marina that my buddy has good luck with in the evenings for crappie and whites. He said to fish just off and a bit away from the dock and not at it as there is structure just outside of it. Verticle jigging and dunking minnows produced very well for him.
I'll fish with you at the ranch anytime you like.
