While looking on another forum,I came across ming yang reels. From the pics and description, they are identical as pro angler reels. They will even put your brand on them for a fee. If this is the case, they are cheaper than pro angler sells them, and they have more options. You can get power handles, rubber grips, different sizes, and different colors. Here's a link to their site: www.mingyangreels.comCheck them out and tell me what you think. ..... and yes,I KNOW ABU GARCIA IS BETTER, BUT SOME OF US ARE ON A BUDGET. AND YOU CAN GET 2 OF THESE FOR THE PRICE OF 1 6500C3.

Pro angler may be made by them, but they had some modifications put in thiers so they would hold up better. I know one was to the clickers, dont recall what else. I was fishing with Tex (Doug Elliot) and he was telling me about it. He at one ime was part of pro angler, may still be.

PLEASE REFER TO THE LAST PART OF THE ORIGINAL POST. IT WOULD SAVE YOU FROM REPEATING WHAT WAS ALREADY SAID. AND THIS WAS NOT A QUESTION ABOUT YOUR OPINIONS ON WHAT REEL IS BEST. IT WAS A QUESTION PERTAINING TO 2 SPECIFIC REELS. NEITHER OF WHICH WAS AN ABU GARCIA. P.S. NOT TRYING TO BE A JERK,BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE AT LEAST ONE THREAD KEPT ON TOPIC. THAT WAY,REAL INFO CAN BE OBTAINED. THANKS.

Hi
Our company imports the Ming Yang reels as well as other reels by Omoto. The Ming Yang factory is family owned and produces a very good product, comparable to others with a higher price tag. Last year we sold over 700 of these reels and the reception has been phenomenal. They are really solid.
I do not want to sound like I am writing an infomercial. I just wanted to reassure you that the reels are of great quality and represent the best value out there. If you are enamored with the Abu name and can afford an Abu, then buy an Abu. But I can tell you that there are a lot of folks that have tried the Abus side by side with the Mings (yes, funny name) and are now fans of the Mings. Our new CL60A model, available in hot pink or black is the ideal cat reel. Hard to beat.
And by the way, you have two weeks to use and return for 100% refund if not of your liking.

I guess the only way to find out is by getting one and putting it to the test! that's why I asked. I have used the pro anglers a time or two. They are great for drifting and anchor fishing. Not sure about from the bank. But if I find that they are the same, I will load up on reels for the boat. Never hurt to save a few bucks.
