Main thing always keep the sinker in contact with the bottom. main thing you will feel on a bite is a heavy sensation or the line will just start moving out. But many videos as posted above on youtube.com. its a great rig when fish are close to the bottom

myself i like to use heavy mono for the leader i think that i helps keep the bait up in the water. fish it slow slow slow and keep the sinker on bottom. did i mention to fish it slow,

I use braid as a main line. You can feel everything down there with it.

I also like a 7ft 6in rod better than a 7footer.

Use less weight. I found I can get a better hookset with smaller weight. It also makes you fish it slower to keep it on the bottom.

Here's my input:

For deeper than 10 ft never use a weight less than 3/4 ounce. 2' leader for structure with up to 5' with grass. I use 20# Big Game for both main and leader line but alot of other things will work. Glass Beads and clackers. Fish it fairly fast to locate structure then deadstick it on the structure. Alot of bites will be pretty good ones. When he yanks you yank back type. The lighter bites will just be a tick. On them lower your tip to the water, tighten the line a little and if it feels heavy set the hook. On any hook set you want to sweep the rod so you pick up a lot of line. This is even more important on the longer leaders. Once on keep the tip in the water to keep the fish from jumping. That's where you will lose alot of fish. Match you hook to the bait you are using. Anything from a 5/0 on big worms to a 1/0 on centipeds. I like a good medium heavy 7' rod.
