The area will be closed this weekend for Youth Deer Hunts, hunts start Saturday afternoon and go thru Sunday. TPWD will not allow anyone to walk into that area this weekend.

That said, the creek is really set for a good white bass run this year if the water and weather will allow. See you on the creek.

I've heard Newman's bottom smells pretty rough.

Any recent fishing reports? Looking forward to the white bass spawn there.

Thinking about going this Weekend Will the gates be open, and has anyone heard of them being around in the bottom?

The gate and area will be closed Tuesday for the hunts on the trailway. Call Nails Creek Park (979) 289-2392 to check current status.

If it rains as predicted later this week they will close the gate to newmans and it's a long walk back to the creek as you might already know.. Plans are being formed to improve the road back to the parking area so in the future they won't have to close the gate as often because of wet conditions..

All, the gate will be closed from the 12th-14th of this week for deer hunts on the 13 mile trail. This is an adult rifle hunt in the Yegua Creek area as well as Nails Creek. If you are in a boat in either of those creeks be careful about getting out on the shoreline and fishing. If we get a push of water from the rains predicted this week, this run will be on.
