I went to lewisville barge last 2 days and nothing... no one was catching many fish... Ok crappie experts where do the crappies go when a cold front take place like this... do they stay in the shallow creeks like everyone saying or do they go back to deep water...

I'm no expert, but I think the fish are probably still there... they just aren't hungry. I hate it when that happens. bang

yep! also noticed while bank fishing earlier this week that they would steal our minners if we didnt pay real close attention. when its warn they will almost hook themselves. sometimes we would be fishing for 15-30 minutes with no bait..bang we put a few poles up just to help us be able to pay closer attention. the bite is very suttle.

The days of the crappiethon are long gone.

Last time I was there it was kind of a toilet, and they kept letting all kinds of people in there who weren't fishing come in, and mess around and let their kids run wild. This was about a year ago. I wish them the best, but I don't think the owners can or will invest what's needed to make it a decent place again.

Used to love catching a mess of sandies on the lake and then go back to the barge to clean the fish and get one of those barge burgers.

they say they catch quality fish but i never see it... maybe see someone catch 5 fish over 4 to 8 hours being out there... they keep it heated and that is awesome... it's a ok barge just don't catch fish for the money you spend.... this just my opinion....

Went out there last week and a guy was catching them outside, in the open body of water. He was using a slip bobber with minnows about 18 feet down he said. Had 10 in the cooler.

I used to love that place back in the 80's! It was pretty hard for a teenage kid to get in trouble hanging out at the Barge catching crappie, cats, and yes, even carp. I haven't been there in years, and I hate to hear its going downhill.

My brother and I stopped fishing there early this year. One of the old guys working there is a real loco. Anyways the place has really gone down hill over the years but there are still plenty of fish to be caught. As you enter the barge about half way down the right well at about 12 - 15 feet has always produced really good for me. Just be carefull of the trees. There's a whole forest under that barge.

Someday, I'll buy that sucker... The permit alone is a worthwhile investment for someone to acquire if they have even mediocre management skills...

I went out on both Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. I caught 1 on Saturday. The report was that they were biting around 7am, got there around 6 and did not catch anything, not even a bite, now on the other hand 5 ft from me the guy was pulling them out pretty regulary and also a guy behind me. They did start biting around 7ish but just not my poles. out of all the fish I saw get caught only a couple were not keepers. I used minnows and the bite is so light you think it is just the minnow swimming but it is actually a crappie.

The barge is always good you just have to move around to catch fish. i've never had a good day sitting still fishing for crappie. and a great place to take your kids. the morning bite is always the best. and joe is could about letting you know were they are at. now the place could use a make-over but were eles can u go and hang out with fisherman 24-7 and the weather is never a factor. that's why you keep going ej
