Quantum X Lite combos are great little combos...the reels are REALLY X Lite, though. I love my 5' UL Berkely Lightning Rods for shootin' and minners...9' ft. B'n'M Sam Heaton for jiggin...all with Mitchell Avocet Gold UL reels...all with Power Pro. Avocets are about $35@Cabelas, Lightning rods are $30, but the X Lite combos are only about $20-$30. Spend the extra money and get Power Pro line, though. It rocks! thumb

I have a couple Pro Angler rods that Joe gave me with the boat. An 8' and 9'. I like them just fine. I don't like my reels at all. I bought some cheapy ones at Bass Pro Shops. They really suck. I guess I need to spend more the $9 on my reels.

I live in Carrollton too. Come over and look at what I use sometime and try them out. Maybe we could go out to Lewisville and fish for a bit.

The May/June Crappie World Magazine has a great article on Crappie rods. FYI When buying rods and such its always good to get all the info you can.

Just my 2 cents for what it's worth....

My favorite rod/reel for crappie is my 5' Falcon UL with a Daiwa Laguna 1000 reel. It's not an ultra cheap setup as far as crappie rigs go and you can certainly get really good crappie rigs for less, but I really feel like I got what I paid for. banana

I use the B&M UL 10 Jig pole with an XPS05 (40.00)(instant anti-reverse) Quantum spooled with power pro 10/2 for jigging and love it. I also use the Todd Huckabee xtralite 9' trolling rods with quantum xtralite reels. I also have a pile of rods and reels that I thought I would like but always end up using my get-r-done rods.

P.S. I fish brush, timber and stumps. Don't have docks.
