Awesome I will have to go fishing with you some time. Crappie are good to eat right? Those are the small fish that look like bream sort of? I have seen them but never caught one before. They sound like a lot of fun to catch.

Yeah, winter wade fishing right now you can stay warm with either neoprene waders or just use some breathable Gore-Tex waders. Like some some Simms G3 waders and layer underneath. That way you stay warm and the waders are breathable and you can wade comfortably in cold water.

Wade fishing the bays is my favorite type of fishing. And the norhtwest shoreline of Trinity Bay right outside of the HL&P discharge canal is a great winter wade fishing spot on a good incoming tide tide to move the bait in. Soft plastics and topwaters work well and it's a good place for trout, reds, flounder, and striped bass. Very nice place to wade, especially in the winter.

Heck ya man. Crappie are one of the best eatin freshwater fish around. Ok cool. Were actually putting in right by HL&P canal. I fished off that bridge once with a guy and we caught probably 60 reds and 40 trout. It was nonstop for about 3 hours. it was like they were in a big barrel, but i heard the fishing only good on the other side of the wall not on the bay side.

Cool, yeah I have heard crappie are good to eat.

As far as soft plastics there are many that are great. Some of my favorite are Cocahoe Minnows, Norton Sand Eels and Bull Minnows, TTF Texas Trout Killer IIs, Texas/Saltwater Assassins, DOAs, Brown Lure Devil Eyes, so many to name.

A good bait in clearer water in Galveston Bay and a bait I like is the Saltwater Assassin in Limetreuse. And Space Guppy.

As for topwaters I like Mirrolure Top Dogs, Heddon Super Spooks, Rapala Skitterwalks, and many others.

And right now for winter fishing mullet imitation baits like Corkys, Mirrolure Catch 2000s, etc.

And I love the Yo-Zuri baits a lot.

Right now a friend of mine has been killing it with the Redfish Magic spinnerbaits and Pure Poison. Everything from trout, reds, flounder, you name it.

Thanks alot AJ. I am back and Africa working for three more weeks, cant wait to get out there again. NOv. was the first time I worked the birds since I was a little kid. I didnt know about using a quick sinking bait because we did catch alot of small ones and many sandies. I will definitly try next time. Also I had no idea about the times, that is very interesting. Man if you could PM me any of your info that would be great too, if not thats cool. I alsways fish during the week as I am off for a month at a time and alot of time on my hands with the wife and kids in school so alot less traffic. again thanks.
