Any laws against it? I will be placing some out next weekend, and don't want to go to jail for it.

It depends on the lake and what the policy is for the water district that controls it.

On Lake Conroe, the San Jacinto Water Authority allows it with permission. Which nobody bothers to get and I have never heard of the rule being enforced.

On Lake Houston however, it is strictly enforced that nothing shall be placed in the lake. If you get caught sinking structure on that lake, the Houston P.D. will skin you alive and take all your money.

I would suggest finding out what the case is on the body of water you are targeting first.

Some lakes have rules against it, some don't. Some have the rules but look the other way with regard to enforcement. Others will allow tops/ brush to be placed if you share the locations so they can be published for the public.

Find out who controls the lake (Utility, Corp of Eng. etc) and contact the lake manager. They'll let you know. Hope this helps.
