I am not a fan of spinning rods.

I use a Falcon Cara Finnesse Jig (Split Grip) rod with a Revo STX and 12lb Seaguar Carbon Pro

6'8" Powell is your best bet. Any 2500 or 3000 series spinning reel that is in your price range. 6 or 8 lb. Floro. KandyBass Head Banger Shaky Head and a Zoom Finesse or Trick worm. You are good to go.

My shakey head set-up is a Chronarc 50 mg-6'6" Falcon Cara med-lite with 10lb. BPS floro. works great as long as I use at least a 1/8 ounce jig head with any finesse worm.

[quote=Z21 Cranker]Falcon Cara CS 4-169, Shimano Stradic CI4 2500, Daiwa Samurai braid 20 pound and a 8 lb test flouro leader. Smooth as velvet and will cast a mile...

Bingo!! I use 15# spiderwire but it doesnn't really matter.. just make sure you tie a good knot to join the 8# leader

Cant comment on Rods because i rarely use a spincast, but i like a spot remover head with a hightail holeshot worm from Kickerfish Bait company. The tail always stands up

Go with the All Star Pro Series PR786S 6'-6" medium heavy and of course one of the ABU Garcia Soron STX20 reels. The All Star rod is great and wont break the bank and the Soron spinning reels are very smooth. Try 15 pound Spiderwire Ultracast braid and use a shock leader of 8 to 10 pound Berkley Trilene 100% Flouro.

I am sure Smith Mountian is up in Yankee land, and probably have to use that [censored] to catch fish up there.

We are mostly Texas Fisherman down here, and have to deal with stumps and hydrilla.

So we can break out the real bass fishing and act like Bass Fisherman, instead of fishing like we are fishing in a 800 acre bathtub
