Hey Guys, this is my first year having a boat slip on Lewisville Lake, and depending on who I talk too, everyone has there own opinion on submersible crappie attractants from, cedar trees, peach trees, and crappie condos. I'm personally leaning towards cedar trees, if I can find them, but wanted to get some advise from the guys who know. I've been told christmas trees are a big no-no do to the chemicals they put on them, which totally bites since they are so readily available this time of year?? Thanks in advance for all your suggestions & advise, just wanting to get it right the first time. Happy Holidays To Everyone!!

What about christmas trees with no chemicals? Not everyone sprays all that [censored] on the trees.

Bois D'Arc for strength and longevity of your hard work. Willow for your best attractant and easier to get unhung (minus beaver) Never a big fan of Xmas tree, although it works to a certain extent. Cedar is very good, but still not my best choice. Condos are great without loosing jigs, but they require building process & materials. While condos do hold fish, natural trees seem to hold more fish... G-luck!

From what I HEARD about the christmas trees, they do work but it takes a bit of time since the needles of the tree put off a undesirable odor to the fish. I dont know that for a fact. I have dropped christmas trees before and fished that brushpile a few months later and caught fish for years afterwards till bass fisherman kept dragging the trees up. No big deal things happen. Just heard when the needles are dying is the time it wont have fish on it. So i guess you could put them out but it would take time to get fish on them. I plan on trying to get some trees after christmas so i can drop them at a cpl lakes i fish. Both have no type of brush in it and one is very muddy so its hard to find the fish anytime of the year. Hopefully it will attract the fish so they will be easier to locate take care mark

I'm a green horn at crappie attracting, but I'm leaning towards the condos... Not as bad to snag hooks.

Bamboo works great. It will last about 3 years before it needs refreshing. Weedless jigheads will eliminate all of the hangups.

If you have ever had an aquarium you will know fish like to get in the comfy spots with the most cover. That's why willow makes the best. The more little limbs to hide in the better. Same for condos. Cedars are so dense, it makes it hard for them to snuggle into. At night they actually get into little bed areas and sleep. They even die from being tense if they don't have a nice place to go hide and rest.

I've used about everything possible and still prefer Fresh cut cedar trees. Less hangups than willow. Never found any odor problems with Xmas trees, just takes more weight to sink than cedar.
The least effective in boat slips is condo's (if there are other slips with real brush nearby).
Crappie will go to the best cover available, whatever it is.
Some will be on ANY cover.

I will be gathering up xmas trees in the next few weeks as folks put them to the road, I have about 7 nice bamboo condos out, and would like to put at least that many x mas tree condos out!!! One thing to remember though, In a bout a week, all of those nice green leaves that you see on the trees that you are putting out will be gone. So whatever you put out, picture just the limbs and branches and thats what the fish will have to be around. I will probably also go sink a few next to some trees that I can tie up to at night.
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

They're loaded with crapped and bass.!
