I live in The Woodlands, and while there are many ponds, they stopped annual stocking a couple of years ago. Anyone know any good ponds for LMB or catfish near The Woodlands?

Thanks! I've used it before to look for spots but it is time to put it to use again.

I lived in the Woodlands/Spring for five years...Lake Woodlands is good if you have a small boat or yak. Hit the canals on the housing side and the creek on the North end for Bass. Great Crappie lake too. Use minnows and slow troll in the middle of the lake down by the spillway.

Drive back behind St. Luke's Hospital. There is an old neighborhood that was built around fishing ponds. The roads are named after fish! There are signs stating "Residents Only" but all I had to do was ask a "resident" and he said I could use his name if ever questioned. Lots of good size ponds and a big lake back there...full of fish!

I recently completed an electrofishing survey of Lake Woodlands in December. Of particular interest to me as I stocked that lake when it was built, around '83 or '84 I think.

We found some very nice bass in there. Large, healthy, but scattered about. A good bass fisherman might do well. A casual fisherman (like myself without the shock boat)probly not.

We did find some crappie, but no big ones, doesn't mean there aren't some in there. We also found a healthy population of nice sized channel catfish.

The lake had a huge shad population, threadfin and gizzard as well as a lot of sunfish.

Overall I'd say it would be a good place to fish, especially out of a kayak or small boat.
