I just got a spool of Wally Marshall hi-vis line and so far I like it except for one thing, line memory, looks like a spring laying on my rod. Anyone use stuff like reel magic or what ever and if so how does it work for you. Apply before going or after fishing?

I use it (and like it), but gotta admit, I've tried everything that I know to do, and the twists, loops, whatever you want to call them, are still there. I use Reel Magic every trip, but doesn't help. I'm thinking seriously of changing to Power Pro yellow, as the non-mono lines don't seem to twist like mono. Good luck......

This is why I switched back to Original Stren Clear/Blue and the yellow. The WM Hi-Vis is not all its cracked up to be.

I've used about 1000 yds of the Wally Marshall Hi-Vis stuff over the last 5 months or so and the line memory problem has been incredible. Other than that the stuff is great. Truth is that I haven't "fished" a thousand yards of the WM line, I've just had to re-spool so many times because of the "rats nests" and I'm getting tired of it. I'll be trying a hi-vis braided line next.

I agree about the WM-Vis, I've had nothing but trouble with line twists and such. Yes its great to see when dock shooting, but when you've got a twist just about everytime you cast/shoot, every crappie under the dock can take a shot at the jig, and I would never no it. I have even tried winding the line on in different directions, no help. Even had a factory representive for a major reel manufacture tell to manually close the bail and that would solve the problem....no luck on that plan either. In fact I'm going to BPS today and try something else....Spiderwire or something with no memory. My father was a very successful crappie fisherman (jigs primarly)and he never worried about that Hi-Vis stuff....so hard headed me I'm switching to something else. Thanks, Guy for the info on Power Pro line I may try some of that.

Cut everything off the line and let it all out on the water with your boat trolling at idle spead. Drag the line a couple hundred yards then reel it back in while still trolling along. This will remove all twists from your line. It's kind of a pain to stop fishing to do this but it works and then you can rerig and get back to fishing without the hassle of the "wind-knots".

I've pulled it behind the boat, close my bail by hand, check for twists when I load the reel, all that good stuff, don't think its line twist so much as memory. I got 6 lb test and have pulled some jigs loose from snags which I like and these old eyes need something they can see. I have and am trying to like braid, too much an oldtimer I guess. I just got a spool of Cajun red last night and going to try that too, have a spool of Triplefish camo and it lays good, just hard to see. Wish they still made Tri-Max.

SJ, If you're not a line watcher, then you'll probably like Cajon Red. I tried it once and like the feel, the way it layed on the spool, the lack of memory...all that...but couldn't see it at all. Maybe you'll have better results.

On line twists.....Its kind of a pain but I have now got in the habit of using a #8 swivel ahead of my jigs. The leader is about 8-10". All line twist is eliminated plus its a little easier to fish the jig in the wind.

I have been using the cajon line for a couple of years and have had great results. The WM hi vis line no comment. It took 2 trips for me and it went in file 13. The memory is to bad and I had to respool about every other trip not worth it. You can get the 1/4 lb spools @cabelas for aboout the same price and you will be alot happier.

After I spool up a reel, I usually will palce the spool upside done in my bathroom sink with enough water in it to cover the line. I let it soak for about 10 min. or so and put the spool back on the reel. I have never had a problem.

Also, if red is not your color, I like P-Line. I haven't had a problem with memory at all and I love the sensitivity you get. Not great visibility with the clear (very clear), but I believe they make it in color (green and maybe yellow).

I just got back from BPS,after picking up some new line. I asked one of the BPS employees if he would make a recommendation on a good line for spinning reels.....without hesitation he showed me some of Berkleys Trilene "Sensation" line, boy I can already see a difference. Also, I bought some of the Power Pro line Guy recommended and I think I'm going to like it, as that line certainly doesn't have any memory. :p I'll be out in the morning and doing a little field testing........

Guy, are you talking about in the water or when you tie a knot? Really need something I can see when I tie a knot.

SJ, I could see it fine while knot tying; I just couldn't see it over or in the water, and that doesn't work for me, as I'm a line watcher.
