I'd upgrade your trolling motor. You have decent electronics, but your tracker is under-powered in the front end. Upgrade and stay on the water longer. SI is great, if you have everything else covered.

You could give your motor and troller a good tune up, but that's no fun.
I would put the $K down on a SI unit.

I wouldn't do upgrade's on an older boat unless it is needed and I am going to keep the boat for a very long time...If the trolling motor is fine then don't upgrade it...I do however have a 997C SI on the console and a 522C on the bow of my old but well maintained Ranger bass boat...Those are items that I will keep and put on my deep V crappie boat one day when I make that purchase...Don't buy it unless you can move it to your next one...

I would tune the motor. Sell the trolling motor and upgrade to a 65lb. and with the extra get something special for mom and kid. so that way she will let you fish more with the upgrades. The graph is not a bad unit. and then if you get a little extra later that would be what I do next and you might be able to get a good deal on a 27c or 37c and put the 520 up front. That is just me. If something happens to the motor all the upgrades are going to be sitting at the house. Steve

I would have to think the 40 pound would work on your boot pretty good.

Actually someone sent me a link to a 24v 80 for 150 but it may be a lot for a 17ft aluminum tracker lol.

My tracker has a 40HP and a 40# TM, they are fine. Get a 997 and plan to keep it when you upgrade the boat. Forget the HD5. It's a dud.
