Coleto creek is the closest lake to rockport.a little over an hour. Other than that it is mostly salt water fishing with the exception of there are alot of ponds in that area if you can get to them.

Don't know how much traveling you are able to do, but Choke is a couple of hours NW and Falcon is @ 3 hours West

I live in Rockport but I go to school at SFA and there are some really good ponds in Lamar (Goose Island) look at em on google earth. I know a 10 was caught out of it a while back but I haven't been there in forever so it could be bad.

Take Highway 881 out of Rockport and go about 30 miles through Sinton to Mathis. There you'll find Lake Corpus Christi (aka Lake Mathis).

Are you able to put a boat in at Mathis yet. I grew up fishing that lake but havent been there since it got too low.

The only open boat ramp is across the lake at Webers and I heard that you need 4wd to launch. The lake is still only about 32% full. It has come up about 3 or 4 feet since the rains. all the boat ramps at the park are closed. Catching good cats from the bank at the park. Shad are the best but hard to net. people are having good luck with shrimp. Dont know where the crappie are haven't caught any in about 2 weeks. Hoping that they would show up in the coves but maybe the water is to low.

the crappie are usually around the docks but i guess with the low water level that isnt going to be the case this year.

Right about that basspro99 . I drove around the southside of the lake Monday and 99% of the piers were out of water. Only saw a couple of piers that had water at the end of the pier and no docks with water. Plenty of rain east of the lake but not enough in the water shed to raise the lake level.

it sounds like it will take another hurricane or tropical storm to fill it back up. that is what it usually takes. Pretty sad to see that lake like that every couple years.
