Hello, I'm the guy pictured above, with the lake record. Please hold your applause, or better yet direct your applause over to the best fishing guide you will ever find - Mr. Carey Thorn. That was my second trip with him, and I learn so much off of him, its a pleasure fishing next to him, never a dull moment and always lots of fish to fillet afterward. Thanks for everything guy, you're awesome. My buddy sensei will post a more detailed report on our trip later but I just wanted to give The Man his props.

First off i want to say that besides being exciting, fishing with Carey is one of the smartest things
you can do!!!! why is that you might ask! well having a regular 9-5,a typical wife with a typical 2 yr old and no access to a boat of any sort, time on the water can really take a back seat..how many of you out there (lurkers and all) can relate?? yeah i thougt so! having said that, if you are are out there in the water and you are not catching any fish, its not because there are no fish or any other excuse u want to use, its because you dont know what the heck youre doing! might sound harsh to some but its the truth and it was me before fishing with Carey, you are wasting your time if i may say so myself, time that most of us dont have am i right? yes i know i am! dont like to waste my time and neither do most people yet time and time we see it happen and it happened to me before quite a bit..

let me give an example..this past trip, while we were catching fish left and right(carey said it was a slow day )people next to us fishing in the same place just some feet away were coming with high hopes and going home empty handed!the fish were there its just that they were taking the wrong approach, people came and went, including some that tried to fish in our spot opposite from us and skunked out! im not gonna lie, that felt very good, very good indeed!!! no body and i mean NOBODY cough any fish other than us while we where there!! and i bet the people that where there moved in to where we were just as we left and i bet they didnt catch a darn thing..so yeah i feel prety good and confident that i can go out there again and get the same results that i did while i was with carey!!

trips with carey will more then pay for themselves in the long run as you will learn valuable info (what to do, but most importantly, what NOT to do) that would take a lot of trial and error on ones part to figure out if done alone, not to mention the spots he will introduce you to, being out in the water with him is just like being out with one of your friends because you get a certain feel of comradery right from the start and you immediately start to feel like one of the guys!!

I will definitely fish with him again and very soon!

Here are some more pics from your outing, the bites varied from through out the morning but the fish were constant,
as you can see we also cought some real nice sandies and some yellows from keychain size up to slab and magnum size respectively, we missed a whole bunch of fish at first due to the fact that crappie bite is subtle and we were excited im sure there are a lot of fish there with torn lips due to extreme hook sets from our part. Nevertheless, like i said, the day progressed and so did we.

Thanks again Carey and see you soon!!!

you better be glad i wasn't beside yall grin

Fish were biting this morning took home 7 or 8, lost probally one of my pb, new I was going to have trouble getting her up the highbank, sure enough tried to horse it up and bloop back in the creek she went, 2lb + fish it was a bigg'n.

Fish were biting on 1/8 oz jigs from my bro-law Cecil and they prefered pink and black today with a slip bobber, depth was anywhere from 5' to 7' today, but the fish were picky it had to be in one certain spot.

Not bad for $6.94 a fish! I need help with the slip bobber and jig set up...I went out to Marshall Creek and cussed the whole time...ruined my waders, fell three times, got skunked and lost about 7 lbs from all the walking and climbing around..I would pay the money for less heart ache!

I never use a slip cork setup @ white rock. Never need it. I always fish tandem jig combo or jig n bobber if they are suspended.

I never use a slip bobber either. I use a pegged slip bobber to adjust to the depth they are at. I have been catching them At the mouth of the creek and all the way up and inbetween. They r everywhere in the creek. U just have to have the right stuff they want.....

You also have to learn how to cast standing under a tree with 5' of line under the bobber. It took me awhile and the tree I was standing under looks like a christmas tree but I finally got the hang of it.

i use a 7 ft ultralight rod and can can "Shoot" a jig as far as i can cast it and avoid everything overhead. 7 ft is perfect for a pegged cork at around 5-6ft, and has the length and leverage to haul them up the steep banks.

fished tonight for a couple hours. nothin till dark then put 6 in the bag in an hour. its getting cold again right now!

put my report on crappie section. they are in there just have to find them and what they want and what depth they are at. i caught them all depths today but mainly closely to the bottom the last few days. i was there 3 hours before they started biting but was the same place. just be patient, if you know your in a good area be prepared to wait and experiement colors and depth.
good luck and keep at it
mark
by the way my being patient gave me a limit plus 30 under 11 inches in 2 hours

I thought about doing that but I have never practiced with my 7 footer or with a bobber on the line. On top of that there was a guy right across the creek. He didn't seem to have the kind of face that would look good with an eye patch.
