Hopefully it will be a fish for fun lake. I fished it until it closed and on weekends it was hard for someone to get in unless he got there in the middle of the night to get on line. Tough for people wanting to bring kids fishing. The last year it was open they cut out the tournaments pretty much and the lake was accessible to everyone without having to spend the night in your truck on line.

Hey! We thought sleeping in the cold truck all night was just part of the thrill, lol.. I remember waking up several times to frosted over windows or sleet.. It was like an all night party out there sometimes! But I would agree, it would be fun just to go fish there.

Politicians, baseball players, high-powered corporate CEO's they all seem to eventually let us down. Nature, however, does not. Look to her for inspiration and you will learn the secrets to living a good life. The most Important lesson it would seem is to make sure you spend as much time fishing as anything else.

The people that lived in the house near the gate didn't appreciate the all night parties, guys leaving their trucks running for hours, standing outside talking and making noise and leaving garbage all over the place. These things weren't the exception, they were the rule. This gave TXU the excuse they needed to cut down on the tournaments. They were looking for a reason to close the lake before 9/11. The guys banging on your window waking you up to ask you enter a tournament were also a pain.
I fished many of the open tournaments there and won some decent money but overall I'd rather just go fish for fun and allow other people to catch some good fish that aren't interested in tournaments.

I was blessed to be able to go during the week and was able to avoid all that mess. During the middle of the week it was like a differant lake, 3 to 10 boats at the most and during the summer there were days me and my dad had it all to ourselves.

The new rules are going to be for the better. It's not going to be worth going unless they keep it in line. 75 boat max per day, weekends only, and lottery drawings every Monday to decide who fishes the follwing weekend. No open tournaments, no tournamet trails, and only the occasional charitable tournament. The one and only thing that I would be a bit discontent with is if they decide to restrict or not even allow night fishing.

That place was a mad house when it was open 8 years ago. Look at all the people out there who never had the chance to go and look at the new interest that has developed in this sport since. They must have a lot more restriction on
that lake to keep it a qaulity fishery, otherwise it will be as over crowded and picked apart worse than fork.

They never allowed night fishing on Squaw Creek. I fished it from day one and you always had to be off the lake by sunset. But that would be awesome if they did allow us to fish it at night. I know this is the Bass fishing section but that little lake is full of big slab crappie and catfish also. We used to go in late Feb. and early March and catch slab crappie right off the dock when they were spawning.

Squaw creek was awesome back when I fished it in the late 90's. I was in the Granbury bass club and we fished it regularly. I am stoked that's opening back up

Sure would hate to spend the night in the truck to find out in the morning that I was Number #76. With the way my luck is at the lottery I would never get to fish it, just read the stories of the 30+ pound stringers being caught.
