Get him a 20' boat, that's what my tackle box is. Seriously, I don't know what type of fishing your dad does, but you can't go wrong with a softsided box (duffle bag type). If you don't get one already equiped with the individual clear slide in boxes that have adjustable compartments you can purchase them seperatly. I don't know how big of a box your looking at, but I got a light blue gym bag (it's huge and matches my boat), went to the fishing dept. and found the size of slide in boxes that would work in it. If I had bought a bag of that size in the fishing dept. with or without the slide ins, I would have probably spent $20-30 more going that route. I didn't think a bass or company logo embroidered on the bag was worth that much extra money. thumb

Sorry, I seem to have at least one of every kind ever made. My hobby other than fishing is reorganizing my gear every month or so. True story...

I agree with H2O that a soft bag is convenient, as you can use the clear boxes in it and change them out, depending on what fish you are after on any given trip. I like the purpose-made fishing bags, though, as they usually have plenty of zipper pockets for accessories like pliers, line nippers, spare spools of line, etc.

Falcon V-12 softside with boxes. About $50.

I have had mine 4 2 years and love it.

I have bought a lot of them looking for just the right one. I haven't found it yet. I do like lots of external pockets on them.

I've got a Home Depot Bucket with a few of those clear Plano tackle trays in it. Not very nice but it works.

Bass Pro Shop has a couple of good soft-sided bags that work well.

I have the one that fits 370/3700 boxes, but he might also like the 360/3600 bag. The larger one keeps most of my gear handy when I'm fishing from my partner's boat. It has plenty of side storage for things like spinnerbait or worm binders. I also like the holder for my Reel Magic or a water bottle on the side.

I don't know the price off the top of my head, but I do remember it being reasonable when I was shopping around. It is a good all-around system. The Falcon system also works well, especially for holding specific types of baits.
