Launching at 720 bridge on Sat. and want to put my brother on some fish. Thinking of jigging the bridge and then trying slow trolling for first time ever. Any tips out there on how, where, and when???????? Any comments are appreciated.

Trolling in that area can be tough, due to all the timber. I think I'd stick with the deep trees and jigs after about 9:30. I'd fish the bridge til then.

Is the little elm area worth driving all the way over there for? I've never fished the 720 bridge, only the I-35 bridge about 4 times and to be honest it has sucked every time. Matter of fact the only crappie I have been able to catch are the 8 inchers over in Hickory Creek. I only have a 12 ft jon boat and my fishin buddy and I are determined we aren't coming home tomorrow until we have an ice chest full of slabs, whether that means that we stay in the boat on Lewisville all day, or load it up and drive all the way out to Buck Creek walking the bank. We aren't coming home until we have fish, period. I live in Lewisville so is the crappie that much better on the little elm side of the lake to warrant the drive over there? ------------------ Formerly known as KC GSR [This message has been edited by Kyle Campbell (edited 01-30-2004).]

Kyle, In my opinion(I am only a novice Crappie fisherman), the Little Elm bridge is a great place to catch some crappie. I was there last weekend and had to leave due to an emergency but I did catch a couple. The ones I caught were right under the cross member but they may be deeper as well. I spent most of my time trying to figure out what depth they were at. The first fish I caught was a sandie under the cross member then a crappie under the cross member but I couldn't consistently get bit. My guess is that they may be slightly deeper but I wasn't there long enough to figure it out. Good luck!

Kyle, In my opinion, there is no comparison between the I35 bridge and the 720. I've never done very good on keepers on the I35, and have always caught keepers on the 720. Also, there is a close place to the bridge to launch at 720. Find the cross members and I'd fish below them if I was there. Start close to each side and work your way out. It would surprise me if you didn't catch some there. A bonus to the 720......it's much quieter traffic wise ------------------ Good fishin', Guy Skinner 'His' Partner

There's a ledge 300 yards south of the bridge where the tree line starts. If they're not at the bridge try this line of trees.

Thanks alot guys, I really appreciate the help! Will give a report tomorrow afternoon on how it went.
SCOOTER: The tree line south of the bridge, is it a submerged tree line, or standing timber?

FYI gents.....the FM720 bridge runs east/west, the treeline that is located on the south side is visible on the east and west side of it, but is also submerged. I have not been on the water in some time, but in just looking at the shoreline, the water is very shallow. When you launch at the Little Elm Park and come under the bridge, I would encourage one to navigate further to the west, too close to the east shore and you may hit some sand. As you continue, there is a steep drop-off that changes depth approx 15'. I believe this is known as Halls Hump on the map.

Hmmm not that I did not believe you guys LOL but had to drive it since I have a compass in my Chevy Diesel. And it runs NW - SE. That is why I was confused when people were saying south. infact Halls Hump is almost due west of 720.
