 Crappie Fishing in Houston Area

I am going to visit my Dad in Houston this weekend. Is there any waters nearby where people catch crappies? What is the fishing pattern? Any advices?! Thanks

Without a boat, none that I know of. If you have a boat, Lake Houston or Conroe would be the best bet. I am finding them on adjacent to creek channels in various depths. Some fish have spawned and some still have eggs. The reports of shallow fish accessable from banks are getting very scarce right now. Fish structure, stumps or submerged brush in 12-18 foot of water in close proximity to creek channels or creek channels of that depth running through shallow flats.

Where is Lake Houston? in which city/town? I would come from Southwest Houston.

Huffman is next to Lake Houston. Take 1960 east towards Liberty County and you will pass directly over it. The San Jacinto is good at this time of year. fish next to steep banks and boat docks. i have had the best luck using minnows.
