I was told today by a dealer that 2010 will be the last year for Yamaha 2 stroke's. Stating in 2011 all outboards will be 4 stroke
Anybody else heard this?

I wouldn't be shocked... It seems to be the trend. Only Yamaha and KTM make 2 stroke dirt bikes anymore, I bet they get canned soon too. I'll miss 2 strokes....

2009 is the last year for the Big Block Yammy. They will offer the 2-stroke in the smaller Hpdi 150-175 hp. 2.6L if I remeber correctly.

The only 200, 225 or 250hp 2 strokes available for 2010 are the ones already built. Once they're gone that's it. At that's what I've heard or read.
Those motors are being replaced by the new VMAX SHO 4 stroke. The SHOs should be available early 2010. They will still make 150 and 175 VMAX HPDI 2 strokes.

Check out this link and article fella's (may have to cut and paste in browser)... http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/news/story?page=bass_news_yamahaSHO_20091119As a current four stroke owner (only 90 hp on CC) that is really wanting to get back into a bass boat in a year or two, this makes me stoked! They are so much easier to maintain and rely on. Plus the gas $$$ saved is a definite plus! I will trade a few mph's for better reliability and gas savings any day...

wonder how big the stockpile is of 2strokes, out in Kilgore hehe. I remember the motorcycles when they first were switching to 4 strokes.. such a difference back then, but they finally tweaked them enough to respond like a 2stroke. I still remember that burrrrrrrr- deep sound of a 4 stroke while watching those guys at the supercross conventions...

So what about Merc ... are their big blocks meeting emission standards for 2010? Anybody heard?
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

I look for them to tweak the Verado, in an effort to compete here. The most interesting thing about this whole situation is that Skeeter is part of the Yamaha Corporation. So what happens if enough states outlaw 2-Strokes or B.A.S.S. outlaws the use of 2-Strokes on their trail?..... Will you see more Skeeters on the water, since their motor cost will be less than all others and their product will outperform all others? Just something to chew on for a bit......
