The rod father is correct!!! Most of the big gator gar are in between richland chambers and livingston

Little fished area for big gars is between Ennis and kaufman. Old timers call the are "the cutoff" because the original old oxbowed river channel is there and literally "cut off" from the main river except during times of flooding and high water. 100 lb plus gars are not uncommon there but access is at a premium.
that is why they are relatively undisturbed there.
