The best way to restore the shine would be to wetsand and follow it up with a good wax. I wouldnt put a rubber liner down, but i fish bare foot somtimes and i like the feel of carpet under my feet.

I have done mine. wet sand it with 1000 grit wet sandpaper( use lots of water) the dry it off and wet sand it 1500 grit sandpaper then use 2,000 grit sandpaper. Then use a good compound then i use final glaze from 3m and the a good hard Carnauba Marine Wax . http://bbcboards.zeroforum.com/zerothread/311487

depends how bad it is.sometimes its better to sand it and clear it with some du 1000 ppg clearcoat.i just put a spray on liner in my skeeter .also i just repainted the whole top half.if you can feel the flakes in the finish that means the gelcoat is too far gone to sand and buff.
OLD SCHOOL BUG R.I.P. 90%of my money goes toward fishing.....the rest i blow......Out with the old skeeter in with a Legend.....

All the above will work but do not last long due to wax collects dirt and the sun will fade shine suggest you buy a kit like this one http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/...1009&r=viewit will last 2 to 3 years with nothing more than wiping boat down after fishing. You just have to aplly step 3 every year or 2 to maintain

I did the wetsanding last winter on my boat. Great results. After wetsanding use Bow-To-Stern instead of a carnuba wax. BTS is sealer and protector. 2-3 coats of BTS after wetsanding, then 1-2 coats per year after that. Quick wipe down after a day on the lake and your done. Boat will shine like new.

I went the SoftScrub route not to long ago and it did a real good job of getting it really clean and the shine was there even without wax!
I did put some RainX on it to get it to bead up and I have had good luck with it.
Try the SoftScrub on a small area and see if that is enough? I would get a buffer cause your gonna need it anyway.
That boat will have a good shine soon!! Dull boats drive me nuts knowing how easy it is to keep them clean.
BTW-anyone know a good scratch filler product? I got a good one the other day from a underwater fence T-post!!!! SOB!
Land was created to provide a place for boats to visit!! It is when pirates count their booty that they become mere thieves. ARRRRRR....

He's absolutely right. You can do whatever you want to get the shine back, but it will dull out again. I clearcoated a skeeter I had 8 or 9 years ago. I see it occasionally and it still looks great. You only need to do the topcap. If you take everything off the boat and wetsand it yourself you should be able to get it sprayed pretty cheap.

If its not into the fiberglass too much,Marine-Tex is good. You can get it at most marine dealers... If you can see the fiberglass I would have someone, (North Texas Fiberglass) look at it. If it has water already getting in, covering it, with anything, is not good..

It is best to use air powered buffer. If you do not have that then you can get a cordless drill with a 6" buffer. I have found some good buffers for cordless at O'rieleys.
