I have had great luck with the LFT Crawtubes. I fish them as is or I cut off the claws close to the tube body for a slimmer look. They work very well. If I go to a smaller tube I like the YUM Vibraking tubes in the 3.5 size. Hard to beat green pumpkin just about anywhere.

Thicker walled tubes stand up to the abuse of flipping better than thinner ones, the trade off is it is harder to set the hook. Some like to have a solid front to bury the hook into like on the Yum Vibra King tubes.

If I want to flip a plain tube with no claws, I like to use the Boom Boom tube from Reaction Innovations. Favorite colors for the LFT Crawtube are junbebug and watermelon red. Black neon and sprayed grass are my fav Boom Boom colors.

Strike King makes a good flippin tube. Some of the SK coffee tubes are on clearace at Academy (NRH), FYI. For Rigging, other than a TX rig or jig-head; you might try internal weights, like the Lindy E-Z tube weight. This rig is hard to get hung up.

These are vertical lures tubes. BPS shops has something just like it with some different colors.

In what kind of situations would you preferably use a jig?

Beds, clear water + rocks, if a jig is too slow, for skipping docks, short strikes on the jig, any time I think a smaller proflie or eratic fall will get bit, or packed with scent and rattles at night or muddy water.
