Great job and very nice. I can't wait to get on the water myself after the LSS-1 install. It will have to wait until I return from an eight day business trip though.

Not to be a nattering Nabob of negativity but, your tie-down strap looks like it rubs against the transducer cable.

Not to be a nattering Nabob of negativity but, your tie-down strap looks like it rubs against the transducer cable. I noticed that when I installed it. It's close. It actually clears because the recess in the hull. I also tie the loose strap material around the metal ratchet when I transport the boat. That keeps it from rubbing on the hull and gives it more clearance. Thanks for the heads up though.

Very neat job. I notice that the LSS-1 power cable connection diagram in the intallation manual has a yellow wire with a switch in it. What's that wire do and why does it need a switch. I was thinking of hooking the yellow to the same terminal as the red fused wire without the switch. Why would you want to switch it off on the water when your main power off will kill everything?

The yellow wire turns it On or Off, I guess it works just like a relay. I connected the yellow wire from the HDS-10 to the LSS-1. When I power up the HDS-10 it turns on the LSS-1. Your method would work if you want to use the main disconnect as the switch.

That's the network cable. It allows each device the ability to share information across the network. 2 - HDS units 1 - LGC 4000 GPS puck 2 - LMF 400 I-Command gauges 1 - LMF 200 I-Command gauge 1 - EP 15 level sensor There is also another one that goes to the E-TEC that's not seen in the picture.

Concerning the yellow wire. I'm in the process of installing my HDS-8 with an LSS-1 and too was wondering about the yellow wire. It appears to me that it would provide power to the LSS even if you have your main power switch off. Course you'd have to have your HDS wired the same way or you wouldn't have a display. That's the only reason I can see for having it at all. Or maybe now, now that I think abou it. The positive battery terminal is connected directly to the power cable, not through a switch. So the switch makes no sense at all, it bypasses the fuse so maybe it is to enable you to run even if you blew a fuse? Very confusing. Instructions are very weak in my opinion. Okie Bob
