Someone told me once that thick wool socks were the best and not to use cotton socks. Something to do with moisture. Haven't tried yet, so not totally sure, maybe someone else can weigh in?

I cant say from experience, this is my first winter truly fishing... but I would think thick wool socks.. and some insulated, waterproof boots.

Wool is better than cotton.

In scouts (in Ohio) we would always put dress socks on with a pair of thick wool socks over the top...and make sure to leave the steel toe boots at home.

Loose fitting "Polypro" long handles.
Thick "Polypro" socks.
No cotton next to skin.

i've figgurred out 2 ways from deer hunting. Your feet can get really cold when you sit in the blind for 2-4 hrs. any ways wool sox work good, their kinda thick tho. also i like to just put them hand warmer/feet warmers things in the bottom of my boots. wal mart has them, most likely in the hunting section. but wool sox are less expensive/ more convient
