Hot dang.....I hit the muthaload...I picked up my first batch of scrap PVC today. Found a buddy that can get me a ton of this stuff that is scrap from his company. Just gotta trade him some fishin' trips. May have to build a whole dang crappie city.... cool

Looks like it may be time to get the creative juices flowin'....Duck season calls first but I have to make some time here in the near future to start gettin' some done.

Nice, nothing better than having something to do when it gets really cold.

If you want, I could take a load of that off your hands. I would even let you in on the location of the drop after completion of the task. smile

BrushHawg,

If you have any extra that you don't need, let me know.. I am in Denton too, and since I won't be chasing whitetails this year, I'll have plenty of free time on my hands...

If you like maybe we could work something out to where I can buy some blocks or concrete for you, and you could hook me up with some pipe..

If I have any left over I will surely post it, but I am thinking I want to build a whole slew of these since I have the connection now.....

Anybody know how much concrete is required to stand up standard condo? I have 5 80lb bags I've had for some time and need to get rid of....will buy more when the time comes.

Be sure and drill holes in the PVC on the top side of the pipes. This will help it sink, and by drilling holes on the top side...your jig's hook won't get caught in it.

Doesn't take much more than the weight of 2 cinder blocks to hold a good size condo wink

We are building a new high school in my community and they had to do a lot of dirt work in the process. We got a lot of 2" pipe and made my first four condos last week. We used five gallon buckets for the base and put half a bag of concrete in each bucket. Worked like a charm.

I've seen people get away with 40 pounds but seems like it might bob around a bit to me. 80 is peace-of-mind insurance.

Brush you can use a full bag if you want, what I did was fill the bucket about 3 to 4 inches with field dirt or whatever, then half of a bag of 80# sac crete and it worked find.

You may allready know this but one of the mistakes I made using the bucket was when I set the sac crete with a 3/8 iron rebar for my center piece I did not attatch any rebar at the base, the rebar pulled right out after it set. You can get some 3 to 4" peices of rebar and attachit with wire to the center piece for a base before you set the conc, that worked best for me.

Brush Hawg, WillieFindum here,
If you are using the EP method of rebar in a cement block, an 80# bag will fill six holes, ie, one hole in 6 blocks or both holes in 3 blocks.
Just trivia: a cement block weights approx. 25#.

We used half of the 80 lb. bag in each bucket and mixed some dirt with it. The buckets were filled to about 6 inches from the top.
