Am looking for a light spinning reel to do some ultra light bass fishing with. Would like something around 8 oz that would hold something like 140 yards of 8# test. Shimano has a cheap FX2500FB that would fit the bill except it is a lower end reel, would really have something a bit better in quality. They also have a very high end reel that would fit the bill but it is over 600...wonder why the middle of the road like a sedona is so much heavier? Anyone have suggestions to try?

take a look at a Pflueger Supreme if you want a light reel that holds a lot of line. They retail for $100 and may be right up your alley.

not suggesting you buy from cabelas, but here's the info on the reel.

Look again at Shimano - the Stradic CI4 weighs 7 oz. and is priced at $200 at Tackledirect.com

This Pflueger Supreme looks like the best choice so far. Anyone have any experience with them?

I fish a Shimano Sedona and a Pflueger Trion side-by-side in rod holders, for channel cats and crappie. Both are good reels, but I favor the Trion. As good as the Trion is, the Supreme must be super.

yeah i had experience with the Pflueger Supreme, very light reel, caught some 15 lbs bluefish from the surf and some stripers on the east coast, after 6 months of using it , the gear inside broke after a long fight with a cow striper, so when u crank it would skip a gear, i returned it to cabelas and got a refund and went with a shimano sustain 4000. shimano never failed me since

A Quantum Array 30 is a great reel around the $40 range. Probably will get another.
