Hate to highjack, but I took the boat out on Sunday, and she got some rain on her before I could get her covered. I have my outboard level so it could drain all the water out, but I am concerned with any other water that hasn't dried before tonight's freeze. Should I be worried of any damage??? Thanks in advance, Chris

Bad idea, that would burn up your water impeller. Just leave it down and level. The only water that would freeze and do damage would be the water in the lower unit that doesn't belong there. If you are concerned about water in there, drain it out.

Put the plug in.

Does wrapping the lower unit in blankets help it not freeze?
I have a yamaha v max series 2., and would like to try and keep from any damage?
Thanks

It is not the oil that would freeze. but water in the lower unit, if your oil is contanimated. Nothing in an outboard holds water, nowhere inside the block or in the water pump area. The only place would be inside the exhaust cavitiy in the lower unit and that will drain completely if you lower your engine to the run position.
