That's from another hot water lake. He was joking around. Gotcha, thanks.

i had a friend that said his uncle told him he just fished squaw creek. I asked how and he said he knew a high up at the plant and he went with that guy. I didn't think it was possible to fish the lake either, but this is coming from a someone I've known well for 25 years and has been my best friend most of those. He seemed to trust his uncle. That's very believable, those guys have a lot of pull probably on that piece of water. I'd be willing to bet that lake in 9 years has seen some action at least.

MattM You are right about being able to fish the lake. Retirees & plant employees can fish from the bank at certain times of the year under certain conditions. I retired in 2006 and I have been offered the oppurtunity to fish more than once. I have not done it because I really wasn't interested in fishing from the bank. Now I am back working for the company as a contractor so I don't know if I could still do it.

Unojo, If you say that Oncor has nothing to do with the lake then why do I and almost every other person that I have met out there fishing have the access to get in. They are not going to let anybody just off the street get in, if they are not an employee, cause when you check in at the guard shack they ask for your id, and what office your out of.

Start at the top and read the whole thread. I did not say ONCOR does not have anything to do with the lake (even though they don't), I said Encore Energy has nothing to do with the lake in response to Jimmie M's statement "source close to encore energy passed the info along to me a couple weeks ago," (dated 11-28-09 above). Oncor and Encore are indeed two (or more) different companies. That being said, Oncor persons may have some information regarding the lake and are allowed to fish there as employees/retirees of EFH. But Oncor doesn't have anything to do with the operation of--or allowing access to--Squaw Creek Reservoir. That is controlled by CPNPP. Do not believe anything you hear, read or trip over regarding the opening of Squaw Creek unless it comes straight from CPNPP Public Relations Department in an offical corporate release. (Yes.) Other than that it is ALL speculation and rumor. Read some of the stuff posted here in this thread alone...gator was captured in the lake...going to move the gate...? Search these forums for "Squaw Creek" and you'll find even more. And it's not because the higher ups want to keep their fishin' hole private. Some on this board complain because an Oncor or Luminant employee's lights are on when the power is out in the neighborhood. You couldn't walk them up and point at the generator that the employee has for just such an occassion and have them not come up with a conspiracy theory as to why the power went out at the exact moment that generator just happened to start. Same as some will never accept that yes, the lake is really closed for security reasons. And just so you know, I'd like nothing better than the lake to open all the way up. I've caught some great fish out there. But it ain't gonna happen anytime soon...

bickering is getting OLD...
any way, everybody from that area knows that the lake has been getting SOME acction. I'm from cleburne, lots of people I know work at Comanche Peak. We have all heard about the higher ups getting to fish it from a boat and others the bank now and then but come on guys lets face it there is NO WAY this lake is getting the pressure ANY of our usual public access lakes are getting. A solid what 8 years of EXSTREMELY reduced pressure, on a power plant lake... THERE ARE GONA BE SOME MONSTERS, and if you'll remember the catfish'n in there is awesome as well...
Idk if I would go 100 miles for it, you very well may want 2 depending on the fishing lol, but less than 30 miles from my house lol, definatly worth treating yourself 2 now and a again...
WAY bigger average size than lake pat lol

hello, new to the forum and have gotten alot of info from you guys. i work for an oilfield service company and we are currently drilling right off of 302. i have been going to the park since the day i got my badge for the plant. its still only open thursday-sunday. I hope to go on thursday morning when i get off. an old man out there told the colder the better. i have yet to see a boat but there is a boat shed by the launch with 4-5 boats hoisted up. i have seen guys drive that way but they obviously don't fish where the bank fishing is designated. here is my last trip out there. Unojo Do you know if any of the other power plant lakes are open ? As far as I know all of the other power plant lakes owned by Luminant/EFH that are, or were, open to the public still are.

The only lake that I know that was open at one time that is closed now is the lake at the North lake Plant off of Beltline in Coppell. It has dam issues and Luminant has dropped the level 10 feet plus they have sold the land. The lake and land will be developed pending the tearing down of the plant.
