Ok folks, back in town for now. Read through the input (and requests for tuna and weather) and understand what folks are saying. We'll present some ideals and then put out some opinions and thoughts on what way we think Nueve Tuna might want to go. Here's what we figure to present date wise: October 8th-10th November 5th-7th or Nov. 12th-14th July 9th-11th (may have snapper and AJ's legal then) September 3rd-5th or 4th-6th (Labor day weekend)
New moon phase comes early in the fall months so the Nov weekends might be best, but hopefully October would be as good.
Just threw out the July and September dates to get AJ's and snapper if folks want it. Now for some input from T.O.O. We talked to F.W. They would love to have the TFF back for Nueve Tuna. We have not talked to DSH, but we know their prices and fishing philosophy, and we know they'll bust their rears to put folks on fish. We have talked to Galveston Party boats and Captain John's a while back, and in our opinion they have not fine tuned the tuna fishing, but they are certainly an option if folks want to listen to what they can do.
Now as for Underwater Expeditions............. we at T.O.O. are very, very hesitant to make any contact with them after how we were treated in 2008. Those on Seis tuna remember they canceled that charter as well as other factors not known to the public make us not have much trust in U.E.. Their actions in 2008 as well as their price fluctuations in 2009 make us wonder what will happen in 2010. There is a whole lot more to the 2008 year stuff than folks know, but we will not go into that publicly. We know they came back to the market price of $650 for 2010 for some folks, but we're not big on forgiving and giving folks another chance when they screw us around as happened in 2008.
However, this is the TFF Nueve Tuna charter, not a T.O.O. charter, so if the group wants to go with U.E. on the Big E we will work as hard as we do on all charters to make the charter the best charter possible. So what we need to know is what dates and which way folks want to go, Scat Cat, DSH, Big E, Captain John, New Buc, or try a different untested charter boat that wants to get into the tuna game. Most folks know the positives and negatives of the above boats. All charters will cost right around the $650 range, plus or minus $100. Lets get some input on the dates listed or other dates and the preferred boat and we'll do as folks want.

Willie,
I had a great time on the Scatcat. It's a great platform even in rough seas.
My two cents is a November departure on the Scatcat. Just have to figure out the bottom fishing part.

Scat Cat or DSH is my choice. prefer the nov 12th-14th.
if theres a season on AJ's... what would we bottom fish for? eeeek. if thats the case- then blackfin and tuna would suit me with no bottom fishing. it would be hard to just target grouper with a closed AJ season. I wouldnt care to catch spadefish..lol.

I'm in on the Scat Cat. Don't care about the dates but I like Oct. I do want to focus on other than just the night bite. As far as UE, I only mentioned that they have finally gotten competetive again, I'm not ready to spend my $$ there just yet. I just want the most bang for my buck, and I know that TOO will make that happen. Y'all have always taken care of us.

Im in for the Oct date on any platform that gets to the tuna. Scat cat was good to me this year, Im ok with that, or UE for that matter, I dont care as long as they fish!!! I might also be interested in any other trips your putting together next year, Im trying to go for 6-10 trips next year and always enjoy the TOO trips. lots of old friends and new faces every time.

I vote Scat Cat for any of the dates. Gotta factor in not having to pay for a motel the night before. That worked out great.
