I too use braid with a flo leader. However if I want to use all mono or flo I have enough back up line to accept 50 yds of new line. I pull out the 50 yds of new line off the spool and cut it off. Next I tie off one end of the new line(fence, bumper etc.) and strech the heck out of it. Now tie it on the spool and it will be ready to go. All the other methods work to an extent but this way works all the time. 8 pound flo is pushing it on a spinning reel unless it has a good size spool.

I fill the spool half full of old mono and only put about 80-100 yards at a time on. I'm using 10lb BPS Fluoro. I use the Berkeley line station to put the line on. Use it coming underneath the spool and keep lots of tension on the line when spooling. I also have a paper towel or rag sprayed with Line and Lure when putting the line on and run it through the rag/towel and it helps with this issue. That's not to say that it eliminates all twisting from the line, but most of it. Also, make sure you are closing the bail by hand and not reeling it closed. That causes big time line twist with a spinning reel.

I agree that XPS fluoro has issues, but am very surprised to hear that your favorite line is P-line Fluoroclear. That line sucks! Maybe the pound test you use is good, but the 8 lb. test is poor. Many unexplained breakoffs and poor knot strength.

Speaking of pound test. Use 14 and 17 with good results but wanting to drop to 10 for special apps. Any problems with BPS in that weight?

spray some kvd line and lure on a hand towel and run the line through it while spooling, it takes the powdery coat off the line and helps some.
