Does anyone know if you can safely navigate from Texas Island to Lousiana Island in pretty much a straight path without striking any submerged timber. I know it is not a designated boatlane, but have seen people do it on occasion and didn't know if they were "just getting lucky" because the water is real deep in that area.

Who knows at this point, better check around. There has been a lot of floating mats coming down Toledo in the past few months. I'm sure there are plenty of logs mixed in the vegetation. Maybe someone will give more info.

If it was me I would run on the south side of Texas island to the east straight over to Louisana "BUT" you never know and my boat has plenty of bruises to prove that theory.
I have made that run before with no problems...
I think Joe Joslin may be on this forum as well and he may give you a solid answer...
Just my thoughts...
