Does anybody have any ritual or certain superstitions before going fishing? Like lucky charms you carry, or a lucky hat, or certain song or CD you play before going out fishing? I was talking to a friend and he was talking about carrying a lucky coin with him when going fishing. I remember as a kid when my dad and I would head to the bays around Corpus or Galveston we would play this tape by this group called The Ventures. I remember this song in particular: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJ11y7pYl-8It was like the perfect song while we were driving out to our fishing destination. And always brought us luck. But after a while it got old and we never played the tape anymore and CD players took over casette players. That was when I was a kid and my dad liked to play The Ventures cause he kept it in the truck to play on our way to wherever we were going to go fishing. It was like a ritual to play that tape. Just wondering if you guys had any certain things you do or carry for good luck. Myself I am not a very superstitious person so I don't really believe in good luck things but I know some people do.

Me = bad luck (lately) No seriously, don't bring me if you want to catch fish. I've decided I must be the bad luck item, because I've changed everything else about my routine, just not me.

Sometimes when I fish I do carry my lucky flask with me. But I don't look at it to bring me luck when fishing just a flask I like to take with me that has brought me luck.
I know it's not good to fish and drink at the same time but sometimes if I take a little break for a few minutes I like to take a sip or two from my flask and have a sip of bourbon or tequila or whatever I happen to take in my flask.

It's a really nice silver flask with a glass front so you can see the liquid inside. It was a gift from an ex-girlfriend of mine and she had my initials engraved in it.

I listen to this song often. My only real superstition on fish is if the cows are lying down the fish a'int biting. And that's the truth.

Bananas are an absolute sin...I catch a banana in the boat, it and anything it's in will get thrown overboard immediately.
And, the culprit will usually get escorted to the landing right like now.

No apricots in my boat ... old Marine Corps superstition, but I think that curse followed me into civilian life. Even today, you can go to the chow hall at 29 Palms & there's a big sign over the entrance that reads:
"We proudly serve no apricots in this facility!"
