I have a 2004 Polar 2310 center console with a yamie 225 4 stroke and have a strong fuel smell in the rod lockers and storage cabinets. I have taken the boat to uncle gus's on lake whitney (which is the closest authorized polar dealer) and to jerry whittle boats (which is were i bought the boat but they no longer carry) for this problem. The verdict from gus's was they tightened and checked vent hoses and outlets and whittles service claims they smelled nothing. Gas odor is overwhelming when rod lockers are opened and when left opened the gas smell is in garage. I am looking for someone who can fix this problem.

Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he has to buy rods, aluminum reels, monofilament lines, nets, tackle boxes, lures, spinners, worm rigs, slip sinkers, offset hooks, gore-tex hats, polarized sunglasses, fish finders, depth sounders, radar, boats, trailers, global positioning systems, coolers, six packs...

That would be a scary problem for me. Good luck on finding someone competent to repair it.
Bob I appreciate the TFF.

Hey, what's going on? Do you have a plastic or metal fuel tank? No matter how much fuel is in the boat, in other words, is the smell stronger when the tank is filled up almost or full than it does when it's low or close to empty? Have you at anytime found any fuel in the bilge?

Tank is going to have to be removed and pressure tested for leaks with what your saying about previous fuel system checks.

I would STRONGLY recommend you take it Tommie Yates at Rockwall Marine.
When in doubt SET THE HOOK!

Had a friend a few years back that had a new Champion and we went fishing. Everytime I opened the ice chest it had an odor of gas. Long story/short. They had to take the top off of the boat and replace the gas tank. Hope this isn't your issue. Be careful.

Boat Dr. - i have not found fuel in the bilge and other repair places have not found leaks, although is was never pressure tested. Fuel tank is plastic and the smell is always there, but seems stronger when tank is more full.
