I haven't got to fish much this year, been sick, but both lakes are off this year. In an ordinary year you can catch some good fish in the upper lake on Belton. Both the Leon and Cowhouse arms. Baby 1- in creeks and shallow coves usually work. Most of the better fish I have heard of lately have been smallmouth from the Cedar Ridge and Rogers Park areas. I really don't have a clue on Stillhouse.

Belton is slow, as soon as the water stabilizes I think it will turn back on, fished a tournament over there a week ago, lets just say weights were extremely low, went wed last week, only managed a couple of keepers. Looking for it to turn back on any day now. Good Luck!

We had plans to camp and fish on Fayette for Thanksgiving weekend. Didn't make reservations in time and the park was packed.

So we camped and fished on Stillhouse instead. Only had one fish all weekend and it was about one pound.

Last night the folks camping next to us caught about a 3-4 pound LM on a live minnow from the shore. They were so excited.

We thought the fishing might be good this morning with the front appoaching but caught.....nothing

I've been to stillhouse a few times over the past few weeks and haven't managed anything better than a few dinks per trip. I don't know how belton is but it can't be worse and would guess it has to be better. Fayette or bastrop would be a better bet.

Javelin is right Belton needs to stabilize, back in the summer we had a drought and then we got a bunch of rain this fall. It flooded alot of areas and the lake got way up and now it's releasing alot of water. It is only a foot high right now so they should shut the gates of pretty soon. Then the lake should be able to get to it's regular pattern.

I fish mainly for catfish on Belton and have had poor results right now from the same places I usually fish when the lake is at it's normal state.

What is up with the weather down there? It was nice till this week? Its going to be really tuff now. I like to fish off shore drops and points if they are still pulling water they should stay there? but with the weather cooling down this much are they moving to the back of covers and the creks yet? And thanks for all the help.
