I launched at Sanger Park 2 weeks ago but was told that Crappie fishing by the dam near Ide Du Boise Park was the wrong place to go.
Since it was my first trip to RR I had no clue where to start searching. Someone told me to hit the Coves by Hwy 3002 on the North West side of the lake. Was this good Crappie Info ??
It looks like there's a ramp after you get across the second bridge..Is this open and does it have enough water to launch from ?
Sure would like to get into some fish soon !!!

BobbyR,
The boat ramp at Pecan Creek (on 3002) is the last ramp at the north end of the lake. I launched there last week, several other boats were coming in and out as well. The ramp is still plenty deep to launch from. No one had any problems.

Ditto what Dave said about the ramp....plenty of water to launch.
the 3002 bridges and north of both of them are good crappie areas. I'd concentrate on the back of coves with creeks in them... north west or east...

Lord.....Please forgive me for what I am about to do to your crappie......AMEN

I launched again today from Sanger and fished the 3002 bridge when the black coulds rolled in.. After the wind settled down I started my Crappie Search again.. Fished the North Shoreline West of the bridge and hit the coves hard.. NO CRAPPIES !!! Minnows, jigs, and nightcrawlers were all a bust.. Landed 1 Largemouth on a minnow up until noon.
Saw the birds hitting the water and tore up the Sand Bass for about 2 hours.. It was fun but no Crappies...
Anyone get into the Crappies on Raybob ? Can you share where you are getting them ?

BobbyR,
Springtime crappie fishing at Ray Bob can be tough if you don't have a couple of days to find them. You were looking in some of the right areas, head way up the creeks if you don't find them out in the coves. However, if you wait until after the spawn is over they will start to hold on the Corps brushpiles pretty well. If you have a graph and a lake map you should be able to find them without too much trouble. A GPS will help you 'refind' them on your next trip. There have been lots of post here about finding brushpiles, do a search and read away....
