I fish that lake every week and usually one of the best lakes in Texas, for some unknown reason it is fishing about as bad as I have ever seen it in years. I hope you go on a cloudy day non post front and you will be ok, lake is up from a month ago and has been tough ever sense hopefully it will get colder that should help. Good luck let me know how you do.

Whats funny before the rain that lake was hot, I was catching giants everyday and lots, last year at this time I was smoking on them it was awesome I couldn't wait till thanksgiving when I don't have tour and can go fun fishing, I don't mean to get you down it is lake nac and that place can turn around those fish are there and if you catch it right you can do good.

Yeah it can change in a hurry out there. The lake is up from a where it normally is and that may have them a little scattered but it is coming down and getting colder. That should help stack them up in small groups around the grass. Water isnt as clear as normal either. Dont be afraid of the dirty water up north and shallow.

There is no real good map of lake nac that I have ever seen. Don't know if it would help that much. The way that lake is set up its contour is so basic the only thing you need to know is the creek channel which is on a gps. Your not going to find something out there thats all that different trust me been over that lake 1000 times. \\

Yet if you can find an old topo map before the lake was built that would be your best map. Then you get into the fact that it probablly dosen't look the same now besides the basics so you run into the same problem. The store by the lake has a map that is on the wall you might want to look at it. Yakofritz Store

Hit lake Nac up over the holidays( fri sat, sun) and like Todd said it was pretty slow to say the least. Usually i can pick up some good quality fish out of the creek channels with jigs or big t rigged worms but didn't have much luck with that. Ended up working moss beds in pretty shallow water with senkos ( wtrmelon) and running little h20 cranks with decent results. Pretty much all dinks but at least i got my line stretched a bit lol.

Todd tells me stories about Lake Nac. all the time. I would fully believe anything he tells you on that lake. He sends me pictures of fish he catches from there while I'm out on the road having to fish some gar holes...

The one thing I can say about Lake Nac is, you don't need anything crazy depthe wise to catch them deep. Over the years my best spots are from fishing areas not good looking spots, I've never seen a lake that has giants or numbers that will load up deep and you can drive over that area and never fully understand why there in those areas as opposed to others. When people ask me whats down there my response is nothing they just get here.

That makes it hard to eliminate water doesn't it?

WE have some creek channel bends that produce huge fish over 10 yet we never catch them on the bends EVER, we catch them in between the bends on the straight part of the channel that might be 100 yards long really crazy. Or we catch them on a deep flat 100 yards from the creek channel, I say its a flat its that deep everywhere and people will try to say there is a log or something, and there is not one single thing you will ever hit, its just taken us while to find these spots.
