I know it appears I'm a newbie but I just decided to register. I've been reading this forum for quite some time. My problem is, I've lost the Crappie.... I normally fish Cypress Springs (Home Lake) but I also fish Fork and Bob Sandlin. Trouble is, even the productive brush piles in those Lakes has been Slim pickin's.. Are the rest of you in a mini slump as well?

How deep is that brush? I know there are people on Fork catching fish as deep as 35' right now wink

On Sandlin, 25 ft. Cypress is a little different because it's hard to put brush in because of Lake Patrol Harrassment. So They're old brush piles in about 16ft. On Fork, I caught several 8-9" fish in 25 feet on the south ridge that is near the dam and opposes the entrance to little Caney. But as I said, way to small to keep.. Until winter rules kick in anayway

i'm still catching them in 24 ft. in brush . the big fish take a little longer to make the move even then some still stay put right where they were all summer . if they like the area. i'm fishing fork by the way.

I would agree with you , but then we would both be WRONG !!!!!

JigginFool, welcome to the forum. Cypress Springs has alot of boat docks, I'd try fishing the docks, I'd also fish the bridge columns. There's quite a few coves too I'd fish the mouth of the coves. And last but not least try by the dam, don't over look the fish being in shallow water this time of year. Try your pre/post spawn areas you might be suprised. A week ago I was catching fish suspended in 8-10 ft in 18 feet of water, they just turned off, went deeper no fish, finally decided to check shallow, found them again suspended 2-5ft in 10 ft of water?

As far as Lake Fork two words TIRE REEF. laugh

Thanks, justjigging. I'm not as familiar with Fork but last year about this time, I could just drift jigs (Carolina rigged with bell weight on bottom) across the point near Little Caney, and sack 'em up.
I guess I'm just agrivated because my days off aren't falling in good fishing conditions. :-( Maybe next Thursday will break the streak..

Thanks John Wester, I'll do a little map study on Fork and see if I can put your clue to good use. Back to Cypress for a second.. I live on the Lake near the Kings Country boat ramp so if you're ever in the neighborhood, I'll show you the brush and spider condos, PVC trees and what-not that I'm familiar with. Not gonna' promise a great catch but will promise the effort. The reason I mention you might be in the neighborhood is, a lot of "Dallasites" have weekend homes in the community I live in and thought from the way you spoke of Cypress, you might be one of them. :-)
