Fished a brush pile yesterday evening. Got there at 6:15pm and left at 8:35pm with 20 keepers. Caught a total of 26 crappie. Hung two monster bass. One came to the top after rapping my lines all up...had to be 8 plus pounds. Good fishing.

Last year Cooper was rated the best Crappie
lake in Texas. Went to South Sulpher ark last year for three days. Mainly fished north end in timber, could not find brush piles, but then had an out dated finder.
Need to get back up there looks great. Thanks for the info.

I really don't want to say which brush pile but it is on the south side. It's the easiest one to find. A couple of weeks ago I did the same thing on one of the brush piles in the middle of the open water out from pelican point. The first two I caught were 2 pounders. Ended up with 22 out there. I get on top of the brush pile and using my graph locate the edges of the piles and mark them with bowies and fish the break where the pile start down. Drop the line to the top of the pile and pick it up about a foot. You will get hung up a lot especially if its windy. I usually run three poles but that day I could only run one.

Hey crappieslayer....

I tell you what I'll do. Be at the boat ramp at 5am next saturday morning and this is what I will provide:

3 pounds of BBQ with all the fixings
3 pounds of minnows
100 hand tied jigs
12 poles
boat
gas

And I'll will on this trip.

Show you where to fish
Take you to the holes
Bait the poles
Hook the fish
Let you reel them in
Skin them when we get them in the boat
Cook them each time with a fish cooker.
After we are full we will keep the rest.
Anything caught over 50 fish...I will pay the fines.
Provide the beer.
And call a cab for ya when we get back to the bank.

Longtine,
I went to Cooper this last Sat. I hit the water right at day break.Tried four brush piles on the south side. I even went into the timber a little around Moore Creek. NOT ONE DAD-BURN STRIKE!!!!!!!!!!! I guess it just wasn't my day. Sometimes I do pretty well down there, Others are just pure busts!!!!!!

Heck, Poppa, I'll bring the sunscreen. Do the pretty girls backing the jet ski trailer know about the invite?

I will provide the ice cubes along with glasses. I will also give you no finding brush pile crappie wanna bee's the location of the pile. It's the brush pile off dead tree point. Put in at Tira boat ramp. When you get past dead tree point about 150 yards go due south about 200 yards. The pile is in 25 foot of water and comes up to 18' on the top. It's a dead hole in the mornings. This pile attracts crappie during the evenings when things heat up. So don't fish it until about 3pm to dark. Just before dark it will go dead and you want get a bite.

Went to the same brush pile yesterday evening. Got there at 5:50 pm and left at 8:15pm. Only caught 11 keepers. One was my biggest ever crappie though. 2.6 pounds. I was pumped. The wind like to have blew me off the lake. Had to be blowing 20mph+, not fun in a 16' xpress. I believe it would have been a lot better if the wind had not been as bad.

I really think all who reads this OWES ME A BBQ DINNER. Because that has been my honey hole the last month or so. So if you see a 16' Xpress pulling up and your fishing......Don't get offended.

Longine,
That sounds like the pile that I hit everytime I go to Cooper. Like I said last Sat. Morning it was DEAD......Now I know why,, the crappie were waiting on a 16' Xpress before they would bite!!! hahaha I guess my 24' pontoon scares them off.

Postal, you have to hold your tongue on the left side and a chew of tobacco on the right. All BS to the side.

I have come to a conclusion that the only reason the crappie are using the pile is after they get through feeding at night and mornings, they hold up there. I have also tried it in the mornings with no success. The only time I fish it now is in the evenings when it's the hottest.
