Just buy the Lowrance XOG. You can use it for your car and the lake and it'll take Navionics maps too. It's a great little device. It only hold battery life for a few hours though so when you are fishing you might want to turn it off.

Garmin eTrex Vista HCx for about $190.
It has connectivity to your PC and it's expandable with microSD memory card.
I use an eTrex Venture CX and it's great. The HCx has a high gain antenna so it works even better. Battery life is 32 hours on a pair or AA alkalines and a little longer on the high capacity NiMH rechargeables.

I loaded US maps database on mine so I can use it to drive when in need. It contains the points of interest database too so I can find restaurants, gas stations, etc. It's routable so it'll actually give you turn by turn directions. Not quite as easy as a driving GPS but it works and it's allways in my backpack.

The Garmin Rhino 120 is a very good unit also.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !
