I use a 1/16oz. jig about a foot under a stick bobber and then give it a short pull and let it sit for a minute and repeat using a 9 foot fly rod and 6lb test. seems to work ok so far. I've also used a minnow attahed to a jighead under a bobber with good luck

I've tried the jig and bobber setup, but prefer dabbling the jig right next to the bank or near any structure. If the water adjacent to the bank is at least 1 ft deep, it will hold some nice spawning crappie. Although, when I'm doing this I'm usually walking the banks. When fishing from a boat the jig and bobber setup would probably work best. I'm pretty sure that is how the local guide fishes during the spawn. BTW a had a Big O Mamma crappie spit out my jig last week, sure looked like a lake record(it always does when it gets away), maybe someone will catch her. Good Luck....

Are the crappies at Lake Fork up in the shallow already? Kind a early isn't it, but what do I know, I hardly have the time to fish anymore. Good luck to all. clap
